Caitlin's First Car

Last summer Caitlin took driver's ed and got her permit. She turned 16 in October but had to wait until January to take her driver's test. In March she was ready. It was time for a car! Papa spent several weeks looking for the right car(and deal) and finally found the one he and Caitlin wanted.

OU Red and White Game

We drove to Norman this morning to attend the OU Red and White game. We stood in line and visited with other OU fans while we waited for the gates to open so we could find the perfect seats to watch the game.

When the gates opened we joined more than 20,000 OU fans to watch a game of flag football played by OU football alumni and then the Red and White game. Our seats were on the 50 yard line 3rd and 4th row. It was a beautiful day, 70 degrees and a light breeze.

The main attraction for many of the OU fans was quarterback Sam Bradford # 14

During halftime the Heisman Trophy was officially presented to Sam Bradford.

It was a fun filled day! We are now ready for football season to start!

Cheerleader Try Outs

On April 6th 11 girls entered the high school gym for Allen's cheerleader try outs. There were 8 slots to be filled and the girls were excited and nervous. The judges were OU cheerleaders. The girls had been practicing for a week and now they had to perform a cheer and dance routine as a group, perform the cheer and dance by themselves, perform 3 jumps and an original cheer. After all the girls had competed, they had to wait about 30 minutes for the results. The results were posted on the gym door....there was a lot of squealing and jumping up and down as the girls read their names on the list. Jessie made the cheerleader squad!

Allen JR High Basketball

Jessie is in the 8th grade and has played point guard on the Allen Jr High Basketball team. She wears number 00. It has been a lot of fun to watch her improve. Most of the girls on the team have been playing together since they were in the 4th grade and they play really well together. Their last game was against one of their big rivals Tupelo. The teams were well matched and the score went back and forth, but in the end Allen won.

Ice Storm Fun

Wednesday morning we woke up to a blanket of white....

It finally warmed up to a toasty 25 degrees so we bundled up and went out to play in the cold! We dug out the insulated coveralls and snow boots and we were ready to play!

2009 Ice Storm

The weather man predicted we would have an ice storm this week! Monday as I left for work it started to mist lightly, by noon we had a heavy mist that was sticking. A I headed home it was a light freezing rain and temperatures were dropping. At 10:00 pm we had a thin layer of ice over everything. Tuesday morning we woke up to freezing rain, then sleet, some snow, then back to sleet, which lasted until late Tuesday night. Of course schools were closed and so were the major business. We mainly stayed in by the fire, but Papa got out for a while to take care of the cows! Late last night the sleet stopped and we woke up this morning to 9 degrees and a white wonder land. There is an inch of ice on the power lines and about 4 inches of sleet on top of a layer of ice. The sun is shining so it is suppose to warm up to 25 degrees so we are going to bundle up and go out and play on the 4 wheelers!

It's sleeting!

Still sleeting........
